Position Type: Part-time, Non-Exempt (Fridays and Saturdays)

Location: Promise Haven, Lawrenceville, GA

Positions Available (2-3)

Schedule:

Overnight Hours - Fridays and Saturdays, 6PM to 8AM (alternating weekends)

Position Summary:

Family Promise of Gwinnett County is hiring multiple Hospitality Community Assistants to provide oversight and support for families staying at Promise Haven, our hospitality shelter for families experiencing homelessness. This position requires compassionate yet firm individuals who can balance creating a welcoming environment with maintaining accountability to program guidelines. 

Promise Haven serves as a temporary residence for up to three families, and this role, and this role ensures operations run smoothly during evenings and weekends. Hospitality Community Assistants work closely with volunteers, staff, and families, providing essential support while upholding the mission of Family Promise. 

Key Responsibilities:

Supervision and Compliance: Ensure residents follow program rules and monitor check-ins and check-outs. Support residents by assisting with life skills training.

Incident Management: Respond to reasonable requests from residents to ensure comfort and safety. Notify staff of any incidents within 12 hours and document incident reports, sending them to the Hospitality Community Coordinator, Success Coach, Community Engagement Coordinator and Executive Director.

Communication: Collaborate with staff and congregational leaders as needed. Report any issues or maintenance needs to the appropriate contacts, including the Community Engagement Director, Office Manager, and Executive Director. Communicate with house assistants about tasks or needs that must be addressed over the weekend.

Household Maintenance: Organize and maintain all common areas, including cabinets, pantry, drawers, sheets, towels, refrigerator, and laundry areas. Oversee the organization of the shed and ensure all areas are well maintained. Communicate with the Community Engagement Director and case manager when supplies or other household items are needed.

Housekeeping: Clean and sanitize rooms when families move out and prepare them for new families within 24 hours. Weekly clean-out of the refrigerator, ensure the dishwasher is run each night, and maintain cleanliness in laundry areas. Follow bedbug protocol.

Volunteer Management: Ensure volunteer hours are accurately logged into Bloomerang, including cook time, shop time, drive time, and serving time on-site. Collect all volunteer contact information for tracking and reporting purposes.

Meetings: Meet weekly with the Success Coach and House Manager  to review overall house management and program updates.

Other Duties: Perform any other tasks assigned by staff, including general housekeeping and maintenance tasks.

Qualifications and Expectations:

Ability to create a hospitable and welcoming environment for residents and visitors.

Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with families experiencing homelessness and the faith-based community.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to hold residents accountable for their responsibilities and program rules.

Assertiveness and strong conflict resolution skills.

Experience in nonprofit work or serving individuals in poverty is a plus.
