Hospice Registered Nurse (RN) - Illinois

Job Summary:

Medi-Plex Healthcare is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide nursing care to the terminally ill Hospice patients a needed.  This position will provide assistance and understanding to the family in the home care situation and in time of bereavement.  The Registered Nurse will work as a member of the Hospice team in providing Hospice team in providing Hospice care.

Qualifications:

? Graduate from an accredited school of nursing

? Currently licensed as a registered nurse to practice in the state

? Ability to work independently, make accurate, and at times, quick judgments.  Ability to supervise others appropriately, Ability to respond appropriately to crisis outside of a hospital setting.  Acceptance of and adaptability to different social, racial, cultural and religious modes.  Completed Hospice training program.

? 2 + years of experience as a registered nurse

? Active patient contact within past three years

? Access screens, triage and perform treatment ordered for patients

? Perform medical treatment as ordered by Physician

? Prepare and dispense prescribed medications

? Assist with examinations, procedures and other duties

? Oversee and coordinate the daily patient care 

? Assist patients as needed with walking, transfer, specimen collection, exam preparation, etc.

? Complete EMR documentation and/or paper-based documentation

? Other duties a assigned such as new models of care and new types of procedures, etc.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

Graduate of a state approved school of practical(vocational) Nursing and currently licensed in the state(s) in which practicing. Two (2) years of experience in Nursing preferred. Ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment. No Felony record or State disqualification.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Has the ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Has the ability to effectively present information to management, residents, family members, and other employees.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Currently Licensed as a Nurse in the State of IL. No Felony record or State disqualification.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

It is recommended that two people move carts, stretchers, wheelchairs, flat beds, etc. up & down inclines when “in use”. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
