Manager Job Description

Popular restaurant in DC celebrating 88 years in Georgetown, we are looking for a highly motivated Restaurant Manager to join our team and lead all aspects of our business. You will deliver a high-quality menu and inspire our staff to provide excellent guest relations.

The restaurant manager responsibilities include but are not limited to maintaining the restaurant’s profitability and quality control, productivity and efficient restaurant operations, all the while maintaining the high level of customer service standards Martin’s Tavern is known for.

To be successful in this role, you’ll need experience in both front and back of the house with the ability to coordinate between the two. We want you to know how to oversee the dining room, check-in with customers and balance seating capacity according to the CDC guidelines. Knowledge of health and safety restaurant regulations is required along with awareness of alcoholic beverage controls.

We’ll expect you to lead by example and support our staff during busy moments in our fast-paced environment. Ultimately, you will ensure our restaurant runs smoothly and customers have pleasant dining experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily Front of the House and Back of the House restaurant operations
  • Deliver superior service and ensure guest satisfaction
  • Respond efficiently and adequately to customer concerns
  • Organize and supervise shifts
  • Evaluate staff performance and provide feedback to improve productivity
  • Ensure compliance with sanitation and safety regulations as required by the health department
  • Manage the restaurant’s appearance and suggest ways to improve it
  • Control operational costs and identify measures to cut waste
  • Train new and current employees on proper policies and procedures in addition to implementing them to maintain restaurant operations

Requirements

  • Work experience as a Restaurant Manager, Hospitality Manager or similar role
  • Extensive food and beverage knowledge, with the ability to remember and recall ingredients and dishes to inform customers and wait staff
  • Familiarity with restaurant management software, like Microsoft Office, Resy, and Heartland POS or something similar
  • Strong leadership, motivational and people skills
  • Must be TIPS trained and hold a current ABRA manager's license or be willing/have the ability to obtain one
  • Minimum of 2 or more years experience
