Akiba Yavneh Academy, High School English Teacher

(2024/25 Academic Year)

Akiba Yavneh Academy (AYA) seeks an experienced High School English teacher for the 2024/25 academic year. This is an exciting time to join the AYA team as the school embarks on a transformative, multi-year plan, which includes becoming a K-12 Personalized Learning campus. AYA believes that the classroom teacher is the most critical driver of student success and is committed to compensating, developing, and supporting its teaching staff. Our plan includes competitive salaries, robust resources, ongoing professional development, significant time to plan and collaborate with peers, and leadership opportunities.

Akiba Yavneh Academy is a Modern Orthodox, co-ed, early childhood through 12th grade college-preparatory school dedicated to providing an academically excellent and values-based General and Judaic education to Jewish students of all backgrounds to inspire a lifelong love of Torah, higher learning, and the State of Israel.

About the Position

The AYA high school humanities department is composed of four hard-working, educational professionals looking to add an equally passionate and creative educator.  Our ideal candidate is a disrupter, innovator, and empathizer; someone with a growth mindset and a desire to continuously learn through professional development and instructional coaching. We are collaborative and focused on developing a rigorous but authentically engaging learning environment. This year's projects include student-researched and written school policies regarding AI on campus, an exploration of food-related issues and insecurities in our world with an interactive “food expo” for student presentations, a Socratic seminar to explore mental health and the impact of grief in Hamlet, a student-published literary magazine, and so much more. You will feel at home with us if you would rather curate your unit packets than follow a textbook.
