Salary: $35.64 - $40.24 per hour

 

POSITION SUMMARY

Are you an experienced excavator operator looking for a new challenge? Join our team and operate new Cat 352s on a fast-paced project in Northern BC in a mining environment. 

We are seeking experienced multi-disciplinary Heavy Equipment Operator, who are competent Excavator Operators with a strong commitment to safety and a proven ability to work in challenging conditions, including steep slopes and rocky terrain. The ideal candidates will have at least 5 years of experience operating large excavators, along with solid equipment maintenance skills to ensure peak machine performance. Responsibilities include snow removal, topsoil stripping, CNAG material placement, culvert installation and extension, and working collaboratively within a skilled, safety-focused team.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Site Supervisor or designate, responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducts pre-trip/walk-around safety inspections and completes daily Field Level Hazard Assessments for all activities.
  • Attend toolbox, safety, and other meetings or discussions as required.
  • Maintains equipment in good operating condition, reporting, and logging maintenance requirements or concerns.
  • Operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently and be open to run multiple pieces of equipment during your rotation as required.
  • Follow all site, company and client specific safety protocols, policies, and procedures.
  • Commitment to always maintaining equipment and site safety.
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices on equipment.
  • Perform minor repairs and maintenance on equipment being operated.
  • Participate in any other specified training.
  • Assist in general labour and other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience with CAT 352 (or similar) is highly preferred.
  • Comfortable and competent operating in tough, steep, technical conditions.
  • Heavy Equipment Operator certification preferred.
  • Valid Occupational First Aid (OFA) and WHMIS certificates are considered an asset.
  • Proven commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Able to take direction, follow instructions, adapt to changing priorities and multi-task.
  • Strong work ethic with an ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • A team player who works respectfully and cooperatively with others.
  • Previous experience with rotational schedules and remote camp life.
  • Incorporate HS&E concepts into work activities and demonstrates concern for others health & safety (co-workers, clients, and sub trades).
  • Capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment with good safety awareness.
  • Experience with radio communications and protocols.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Ability to pass a mandatory pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
  • Possess Valid Ground Disturbance Ticket.
  • Copy of Valid Driver’s License.
  • Copy of recent Driver’s Abstract.
