Fort Garry Industries has an exciting opportunity for a Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team at our Winnipeg branch.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Repair and replace hydraulic pumps, safety valves, and any other necessary mechanical components
  • Perform incidental welding operations on steel and/or aluminum equipment
  • Diagnose defects in heavy duty equipment and perform required mechanical repairs
  • Perform repairs & preventative maintenance services on heavy/medium trucks and trailers
  • Diagnose & troubleshoot mechanical & electrical failures
  • Ensure documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Perform shop cleaning & any other required tasks.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum level 2 apprentice level required. 
  • 2-3 years of experience performing service repairs preferred
  • Proficient and demonstrated knowledge of mechanical, schematics, diagnostics, electrical and hydraulic systems used in the repair of heavy-duty trucks or trailers
  • Install experience for plow, sanders, dump boxes etc. as asset
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. on a regular basis
