ACE Investigator (Cleveland, OH)
Cameo Consulting Group is a dynamic consulting firm providing specialized services to federal government clients. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated investigator to join our team in support of a critical mission with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Ohio. Our team is seeking an experienced ACE Investigator (Affirmative Civil Rights Enforcement) to perform all investigative tasks associated with affirmative civil rights matters. The ideal candidate will be a proactive, detail-oriented professional capable of working independently to support federal attorneys in protecting the civil rights of vulnerable populations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct preliminary inquiries into civil rights allegations and draft memoranda recommending whether to open a full investigation.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute in-depth affirmative civil rights investigations throughout the Northern District of Ohio.
- Draft and issue document and data requests to obtain all relevant information for cases.
- Conduct on-site interviews with victims, witnesses, managers, and officials.
- Utilize legal support software (e.g., Concordance, CaseMap, Sanction) to compile evidence, develop timelines, and manage case databases.
- Analyze information from various databases to identify supporting facts and evidence.
- Prepare comprehensive factual summaries, reports, and recommendations for Assistant U.S. Attorneys and USAO management.
- Conduct necessary background legal research at the direction of attorneys.
- Coordinate and confer with the DOJ's Civil Rights Division and other components as necessary.
Basic Qualifications (Mandatory):
- U.S. Citizenship.
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Minimum of six (6) years of experience working with law enforcement and/or in the enforcement of Civil Rights statutes (e.g., Fair Housing Act, Americans with Disabilities Act).
- Familiarity with federal Civil Rights laws and regulations.
- Impeccable integrity and ability to handle sensitive, confidential information with discretion.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience drafting detailed investigative reports.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with legal support software is a plus.
- Ability to pass a Tier 4 Public Trust background investigation.
Terms & Conditions:
- Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours/week, Monday-Friday (excluding Federal Holidays).
- Contract Term: This is a long-term contract position with one base year and four option years.
- Location: Work will be performed on-site at the Carl Stokes Federal Courthouse in Cleveland, OH. Government furnished equipment and workspace will be provided.
- Travel: Local travel within the district may be required for investigations.
