Head Packing Operator

New Hope Mills is located in Auburn, NY and is home to well-known pancake mixes and our growing Store and Cafe. We're currently looking to hire a Packing Operator. This individual will be responsible for  leading the line to perform various tasks to support packing dry-mix into finished units. Hours are generally Monday-Friday, 7-3:30 (adjusted according to company and market conditions). We're looking for a motivated, organized and hardworking individual to fill this role.

Responsibilities

• Fill food packages with the dry-mix product according to production schedule and production specifications
• Ensure all packaged products are the correct weight and are of good quality
• Ensure date codes are correct and match up with desired specifications
• Operate various industrial machinery such as augers, conveyors, hand sifters, scales, sewing machines, sealing machines, filling machines, boxing machines, metal detectors, air spray devices, and vacuums
• Cross-train and switch between multiple workstations in the parking area
• Perform equipment cleaning and change-overs according to the production schedule
• Perform packing area cleaning according to cleaning schedules
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Skills

• Basic math skills
• Finger and hand dexterity and necessary endurance for repeated tasks
• Perform tasks that will result in contact with some food allergens (the company will advise)
• Ability to stand and maneuver for long periods of time
• High School Diploma/GED equivalent
• Demonstrate commitment to quality, efficiency, and integrity
• Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, push, pull. and regularly lift objects of up to 50lbs.
• Ability to work as a team, communicate and follow directions
• Ability to pass a drug test

Desired Skills

• 2+ years of similar position
• Proficiency in the basic use of computers
• Machinery operation experience, especially Pallet Jack and Forklift experience
• Experience in the manufacturing and food industry
