Role: 
As Group Fitness & Registered Fitness Programs Lead, you will assist with the co-creation, development, resourcing, delivery, evaluation, performance and evolution of all Group Fitness experiences.  You will create and connect with our customers, community and employees in ways that are impactful in driving and advancing our cause.  You will participate in re-imagining, overseeing, and evolving the functions of the Group Fitness team and bring Vivo experiences to life. You’ll mentor the team to deliver strong results and impact.   

Hours: This is a full time position and includes 40 hours per week. Flexible workdays and varied hours based on facility and department needs.

Reports to: Fitness & Training Manager

Responsibilities: 

  • Build strong relationships and co-create with our adult and youth audience to gather, document and share quarterly insights about what’s happening in our classes and what our customers value.
  • Assist in championing Vivo at special events (ie. everybody plays, open house, community events, etc.) 
  • Assist in regular scheduling and payroll for 20+ Group Fitness and Registered Fitness employees
  • Assist the Fitness & Manager in the recruiting, mentoring, developing performance targets and day-to-day performance management of the Group Fitness and Registered Fitness Instructors, utilizing Human Resources best practices to ensure a high-performing team.
  • Participate in the assessment, revisions, and revamping operational policies, procedures and training manuals to ensure they are aligned and support business and team practices.
  • In collaboration with the Fitness & Training Manager, develop quarterly schedules for Group Fitness and Registered Fitness offerings and ensure alignment within our registration software AVOCADO.
  • Assist in gathering feedback from customers or prospects and share with internal teams to discover new learnings. 
  • Take the lead on responding to customer inquiries to resolution.
  • Lead and manage first aid incidences that occur in group fitness classes.
  • Oversee the cleanliness, safety, and maintenance of all the areas of the group fitness facilities, including being aware of any fitness classes taking place during your shift and making sure the space is ready for our members and the instructors.
  • Perform day-to-day payment transactions.
  • Assist with leading day-to-day group fitness activities by creating meaningful touchpoints for the customer’s journey, maintaining health and safety standards, first aid incidents, and equipment.
  • Support the use of new technology within the Fitness Centre and Boutique Studios for cycling, bootcamp-based classes, including use of heart rate monitors and electronic challenges. 
  • Assist the Fitness & Training Manager with planning, developing and evaluation of Group Fitness, registered fitness classes.
  • Assist the Fitness & Training Manager with developing the next evolution of fitness programs like HIIT, MIIT and LIIT, our registered fitness classes like kickboxing, pre & post natal, teen weight training, weight training and more.
  • Participate in exploring, securing, testing, and implementing new trends and types of fitness experiences/services for our customers on a quarterly basis through the service design lens.  

Qualifications: 

  • Post-Secondary Diploma and/or University Degree in healthy living, experience and place making, kinesiology, social innovation, and business etc. 
  • Personal Training Diploma, canfitpro PTS or AFLCA PT. 
  • 3+ years’ experience in the fitness field.  
  • Minimum 3 years of leadership and supervisory experience.
  • Current Intermediate (Standard) First Aid and CPR-C/AED certifications. 
  • Valid Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search completed within the past 2 years for current staff and past 2 months for new staff upon hire.
