Groundsman
Job Summary
The Tree Groundsman supports arborists and tree crews by performing a range of ground-level tasks related to tree care, removal, and maintenance. Responsibilities include site preparation, cleanup, operating equipment, and ensuring a safe and efficient work environment.
Responsibilities

Assist tree climbers and arborists by supplying tools, equipment, and materials.

Perform ground-level cutting, chipping, and disposal of branches and brush.

Operate and maintain chainsaws, chippers, stump grinders, and other equipment safely.

Clear work sites of debris and ensure a tidy area after work is completed.

Load and unload tools, equipment, and materials.

Maintain equipment in good working condition, reporting issues as needed.

Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Direct traffic or pedestrians around work zones as necessary.

Communicate effectively with team members to ensure efficient operations.

Assist with rigging and lowering branches safely.

Perform other duties as assigned by the crew leader or supervisor.
Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Prior experience in landscaping, tree care, or related field a plus.

Ability to operate or learn to operate chainsaws, chippers, and other equipment safely.

Physical strength and stamina to lift heavy loads and work outdoors in varying weather.

Knowledge of basic safety practices and willingness to follow all guidelines.

Valid driver’s license.

Ability to work as part of a team and follow directions.
