Grocery Store Director
FLSA Classification: Exempt
Reports To: Director of Operations
General Purpose: The Store Manager is responsible for developing store strategies to raise and expand the customer base while optimizing profitability.
Work Schedule: 50+ hours per week, weekend work required

Responsibilities & Duties:
Customer service
Develop and lead all areas of the grocery store
Initiate and or make recommendations regarding the hiring, firing, discipline, promotion, and evaluation of personnel
Train and maintain training with department managers and Assistant Store Manager
Constantly look for ways to improve processes, procedures, training, customer service, and all areas of the store
Financial analysis and performance of the store
Ensure that all state, federal and local laws are followed and complied with
Ensure timeclocks are operational and accurate weekly for payroll purposes
Monitor labor allocation plan by department to ensure goals are met and not exceeded
Ensure each department gross profit goals are met based on projections and weekly budgeting by training, motivating, mentoring and providing appropriate feedback to the staff
Interviewing new potential team members
Assist where needed on delivery days for each department
Order products and supplies
Ensure the stockroom is clean, organized, and safety measures are being followed
Ensure shelves are stocked with sellable merchandise and no expired products
Promptly handles resets according to schedule, including deleted and new merchandise
Monitor all department vendors to ensure proper adherence to the store’s guidelines
Merchandising and display department products
Be observant of security problems and develop methods of prevention
Use bailer, pallet jacks and forklifts in compliance with company safety policy
Complete any administrative tasks required
Conduct personnel performance reviews and appraisals
Daily communication, coordination, and collaboration with team
Maintain a safe, clean and well-organized working and shopping environment
Maintain proper product assortment and inventory control
Perform miscellaneous tasks, substituting for absent workers and performing any additional tasks necessary to provide products and services to customers during peak periods of business.
Required Education / Experience:
Work and education history demonstrating stability: high school diploma or equivalent
5+ years of broad, diversified experience in a store management role in the grocery/marketplace field
Ability to read and analyze financial reports and present information and respond to questions
Ability to effectively communicate
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Experience, understanding, and knowledge of operations in a food service business/industry
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of Products
Working knowledge of federal and state safety requirements, OSHA etc.
In-depth understanding of business organizations and management control processes.
Must be able to consistently achieve high work standards, attention to detail, accuracy and timeliness.
Must be a self-starter who is able to demonstrate initiative in planning, work ethic, and make independent decisions based on sound judgment.
Required Skills / Licenses / Certifications:
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
Must have demonstrated leadership abilities.
Must have ability to effectively work with people in a team environment and at various levels of the organization.
Must possess strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Physical Demands
Work on tile or concrete standing for extended periods of time
Lift a maximum of 50 lbs. from 6 inches to 84 inches, overhead
Move a maximum of 50 lbs. up to 15 yards
Use maintenance and product transportation equipment
Reach forward and/or down with both hands up to 36 inches
Handle labels, signs or tags, case cutter or utility knife, grasp and handle wet, iced, cold, metal, paper, plastic products, cardboard, packaging, and debris.
Bend and Twist at the waist while reaching and holding items
Climb on ladders, racks, cases, shelving, and stairs up to three feet in height.
Balance on wet, slick, dirty and debris strewn floors.
