Job Summary

The Grocery Merchandiser’s primary function is to support the displays and stocking of Ideal Market’s stores. This includes demonstrating safety practices while merchandising product, replenishing store from back-room inventory, improving shelf positioning, increasing product display space, ensuring price tags are properly displayed, establishing rapport/credibility with store personnel, and fostering strong communication with co-workers. The position requires driving to Ideal Market’s stores in a personal vehicle, for which mileage reimbursement will be provided per company policy.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

  • Helps field sales representatives with special promotions by setting-up displays at aisle ends; checking daily on special promotions; observing customer reaction to special promotions; forwarding observations to management; removing promotions at end of the special promotion period.
  • Maintains quality results by following and enforcing standards.
  • Enhances merchandising and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Replenishing, facing, and rotating product; building, changing, and taking down product displays; maintaining product signage; cleaning product space; and securing damaged or defective product.
  • Manages backroom by organizing and consolidating backstock (product); Identifying, monitoring, and reporting backstock inventory levels
  • Evaluating and processing damaged or defective product; Re-packing product; organizing backroom materials (for example, pallets, product shells)
  • Operating powered equipment (for example, straddle stacker, powered pallet jack) and manual equipment (for example, pallet jack); completing Store documentation; and cleaning backroom.
  • Maintains areas of responsibility in designated accounts by communicating status and concerns to Store and Company personnel; Identifying and reporting unsafe working conditions
  • Following Company and Store policies regarding backroom, display floor, replenishment, equipment, safety, etc; Following applicable local, state, and federal laws
  • Provides customer service to Consumers and Store personnel by identifying and resolving concerns; answering questions; locating product; and responding to assistance requests.

Required Qualifications

  • 1 - 2 years of related experience
  • Must possess basic math and computer skills
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States
  • Ability to practice safe working habits at all times
  • Initiative: Self-starter. Takes action to achieve goals beyond what is required
  • Energy: Maintains high activity/productivity level
  • Stress Tolerance: Maintains stable and professional performance under pressure or opposition
  • Detail oriented and organization skills
  • Communication: Presents ideas effectively, actively listens, and works across functional boundaries with the ability to effectively communicate with co-workers and store personnel. Ability to influence others.
  • Teamwork: Can work in a group or alone. Contain the ability to build rapport and good working relationship with multiple store personnel, including Store Managers, Assistant Store Managers, as well as co-workers.
  • Manage job professionally and with a high level of organization
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work
  • Must have a valid driver's license and reliable vehicle with valid insurance

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • Bilingual Spanish/English
