Assistant Meat & Seafood Manager

General Purpose: The Assistant Meat & Seafood Manager/Butcher is a customer-focused position, responsible for assisting the department manager in running the Meat & Seafood Department, cutting and trimming meat to size and other related products. 

 

Work Schedule: 40+ hours per week, weekend work required.

Responsibilities & Duties: 

  • Customer Service 

  • Assisting with ordering for the department 

  • Assisting with employee retention, training, and management 

  • Cut, trim, and weigh various meat and bones for multiple purposes 

  • Clean and cut fish and poultry 

  • Shape, lace, and tie meat cuts 

  • Ensure proper placement of meat once prepared 

  • Wrap and weigh meat for customers when completing an order 

  • Use all equipment in meat department along with bailer, pallet jacks and forklifts in compliance with company safety policy 

  • Estimate requirements and requisitions or orders meat supply 

  • Inventory Control   

  • Maintain a clean and sanitary Meat Department 

  • Perform any other miscellaneous tasks assigned by the Meat and Seafood and/or Store Manager 

 

Required Education / Experience: 

  • Work and education history demonstrating stability 

  • 2+ years of meat department experience 

  • Ability to effectively communicate  

  • Basic mathematical skills required (add, subtract, multiply, and divide) 

  • Basic reading and writing ability 

  • Dependable
