GIS Programmer in ArcGIS
Rising and industrious telecommunications company in SE Michigan is seeking a versatile GIS Programming expert to streamline GIS workflows and manipulate large organized datasets.
A successful GIS Programmer at our company will possess the following proficiencies:
- · Fluent in scripting languages including but not limited to Python
- · Proficient in developing GIS workflows and customizing solutions to data problems using Python
- · Capable of investigating and implementing solutions from ESRI Resources and open source communities
- · Determined to stay abreast of technological advances and is willing to implement new technologies to further improve efficiencies
- · Motivated by maintaining open communication and contributing to team success
- · Basic to advanced knowledge of telecommunication systems
· Ability to demonstrate the following concepts:
o How to iterate and retrieve values from a sequence
o How to use the arcpy.da module to query/update databases
o How to use common modules for file and path functions, system functions, error reporting, rest end point queries, etc.
o How to read/write text and Excel files
o How to create scripts with functions
o How to turn a script into an ArcGIS tool and set parameters
o How to create error reports within scripts and exceptions (Try/Catch)
· Solid foundation in advanced GIS knowledge and skills not limited to:
o Proficiency in troubleshooting GIS software and workflow issues
o Enthusiasm for finding and implementing ways to improve GIS workflows
o Advanced knowledge of working between GIS, AutoCAD, and spreadsheet programs
o Demonstrated experience creating, modifying, publishing, and managing GIS datasets in Web App Builder for ArcGIS Online
o Demonstrated experience creating, modifying, publishing, and managing Web Maps and Web Mapping Applications, including anchor bar and widget customization for data filters, batch edits, and measurements
o Demonstrated experience customizing GIS toolsets and workflows using Python 2.7, Python 3, Arcade, SQL, VBA, and other RDBMS tools
o Proficiency in transformations between projected and geographic coordinate systems
o Proficiency in graphic and cartographic design principles
o Advanced understanding of GIS data management and database naming conventions
o Proficiency in AutoCAD drafting preferred but not required
