SUMMARY

The Snowmaker position is responsible for operating snowmaking equipment to produce artificial snow on ski slopes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Monitor fluid levels and make necessary adjustments using the appropriate fluids.
  • Perform minor machinery repairs and report any major issues to the Foreman.
  • Safely connect hoses and initiate operation of air and water guns.
  • Aim and adjust guns to ensure optimal snow quality and coverage.
  • Safely disconnect hoses if the guns become frozen.
  • Properly connect fan guns to electrical boxes.
  • Shut down and drain water from the guns as needed.
  • Transport guns and equipment safely around the slopes.
  • Identify assigned hydrants on the hill.
  • Undertake additional duties as assigned.
  • Access gate maintenance. 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proficient in operating company-provided equipment, including:
    • Snowmobiles
    • Pickup trucks
    • Groomers designated for snowmaking
    • Ground air/water guns
    • Tower air/water guns
    • Electric fan/water machines

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High school or GED equivalent.
  • Previous snowmaking experience is strongly desired.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Valid Driver’s License

  • Ability to lift up to 100 pounds.
  • Employees should dress in layers to accommodate extreme weather conditions.

    • Rain gear
    • Snowmobile helmet
    • Ear protection
  • Employees are expected to provide their own boots.
