More about working in Remote Camps:  

Our camps are in remote areas and staff live on-site (meals and accommodation included) on scheduled shifts and leave camp on scheduled breaks. A typical shift schedule is any of the following: 4 weeks on and 2 weeks off, 3 weeks on and 1 week off or 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off. 

Most of our LandSea camps offer individual staff accommodation, ensuite or shared bathroom, full meals, WIFI and some have health/gym facilities for staff. We provide partial uniforms and help with the travel/reservations as needed to and from camp locations. 

Camp staff work long hours and multiple days in a row. A typical workday is between 8-10+ hours (day or night shift) and overtime rates apply.  

Health and Wellness benefits are offered after three months. Health, Safety and a Respectful Workplace are essential for everyone working together at LandSea. Our camps are drug and alcohol-free workplaces, and some require pre-employment drug and alcohol testing. All new staff are required to complete pre-employment onboarding orientations.

Qualifications for all positions: 

  • Physical Requirements (must be physically fit to perform the following)
  • Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch for long periods of time
  • Repeat the same movements including fast, reparative movements of fingers, hands, and wrists
  • Use muscles to lift, push, pull or carry objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Reach with hands and arms
  • Use hands to handle objects and tools
  • Must be able to work 12-hour shifts 

 Pre-employment Requirements:

  • Clear drug and alcohol test
  • Government-issued ID is required for air travel.

1st Cook 

General Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepares proteins and accompaniments for lunch and dinner services
  • Works closely with the Chef to maintain food cost and inventory 
  • Maintains Food Safety onsite and ensures allergens are identified and controlled for guests with dietary needs or allergies 
  • Offers quality, comforting and delicious meals in conjunction with the Chef, following a set, predetermined menu 
  • Able to create soups, stocks, pasta sauces, roasts, starches, vegetables, ethnic dishes, hot and cold entrees etc.  

 Job Qualifications 

  • Red Seal Chef Certification (Preferred)  
  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience being a Head Cook or 1st Cook in a large multifaceted facility or remote camp environment  
  • Food Safety and WHIMIS certificates, or willing to obtain prior to start date  

 

2nd Cook 

General Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Prepares salads, sandwiches and cold items for breakfast, lunch and dinner  
  • Works with the 1st Cook to prepare starches and vegetables for dinner service 
  • Maintain the salad bar by creating offerings, restocking and maintain quality control / cleanliness 

 
Job Qualifications 

  • Strong work ethic with an ability to work independently and in a team environment 
  • 3-5 years of experience as a 2nd Cook in a large facility or remote camp environment  
  • Food Safety Certificate and WHIMIS or willing to obtain prior to start date  

 

3rd Cook 

General Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Prepares basic food, cleans and washes vegetables and fruits for the 2nd and 1st cooks 
  • Uses deli slicer to prepare mise en place for sandwich station  
  • Manages leftover foods correctly; cover, label, date, and accurately store according to LandSea standards 
  • Maintains accurate rotation of food to assure top quality and freshness.

  • Ensures stations are cleaned, sanitized, and organized at the end of the shift (including cleaning of kitchen equipment) 

Job Qualifications 

  • Minimum one-year prep work or food service-related work preferred
  • Knowledge of food prep, proper knife handling, temperature control, and sanitation is helpful
  • Demonstrates basic math and counting skills
  • Food Safety Certificate and WHIMIS or willing to obtain prior to start date  

 

Breakfast Cook 

General Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Prepares breakfast dishes for morning service: eggs (to order), pancakes, French toast, sausages, bacon, ham, omelets (to order), hashbrowns (shredded, cubed, baked/fried etc), oats, beans, porridge, breakfast sandwiches 
  • The Breakfast Cook is often the night supervisor and responsible to lead staff and ensure a high level of quality and production occurs each shift. Monitors the 2nd and 3rd cooks working in sandwich production – leads safety meetings 

Job Qualifications 

  • 3-5 years’ experience as a Breakfast Cook in a large facility or remote camp environment 
  • Food Safety Certificate and WHIMIS or willing to obtain prior to start date  

 

Baker 

General Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Prepares, both from scratch and prefabricated, baked offerings such as muffins, cookies, squares, buns, breads, cakes, pies and pastries.
  • Creates daily featured cold or hot desserts, such as apple crisp, cheesecake, black forest cake, etc. 
  • Produces up to 20 different pastries/baked good per evening, maintain quality and quantity control while curating offerings to our clients’ preferences  

Job Qualifications 

  • Red Seal in Professional Baking (Preferred)
  • 3-5 years’ experience, specifically in large production or a remote camp environment 
  • Food Safety Certificate and WHIMIS or willing to obtain prior to start date  

 

General Helper 

General Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Wash dishes, pots, pans and change garbage in kitchen and dining room 
  • Maintains the front of house, coffee service area, stocks beverage, snack and desert coolers
  • Fills napkin, condiment and disposable containers maintaining thorough sanitization and cleanliness standards 
  • Cleans and organizes the kitchen, coolers, freezers, and dry storage as directed 
  • Sweeping and mopping floors, wiping tables and counters  

 Job Qualifications 

  • Minimum 1 year kitchen experience (previous camp experience is considered an asset)
  • Food Safety Certificate and WHIMIS or willing to obtain prior to start date 
  • Great communication. Speak, read and write English   
  • Excellent people skills and a team player attitude
  • Ability to work independently, effectively and efficiently 

 

Camp Attendant / Housekeeper  

General Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Make beds, change linens, comforters and towels
  • Remove garbage and dust shelving
  • Ensure bathrooms are cleaned each day (floors, toilets, shower stalls, sinks, and mirrors)
  • Keep the laundry room tidy; dust and sweep daily, mop every other day
  • Other duties as assigned 

Job Qualifications 

  • Minimum 1 to 2 years housekeeping experience
  • WHIMIS or willing to obtain prior to start date
  • Strong communication skills. Ability to speak, read, and write English
  • Team player that can provide support, motivation, and encouragement to others 

 

Janitor 

General Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Clean, sanitize, and disinfect all common areas, focusing on high touch point areas including doorknobs/handles, light switches, water coolers, laundry machines, etc.
  • Stairs, mudroom, hallway, and entrances should be swept or vacuumed twice a day
  • Deep clean the laundry room and tidy for other tenants; dust and sweep daily, mop every other day
  • Deep clean gym; disinfect all machines, vacuum, and wash floors
  • Ensure common bathrooms are cleaned entirely each day; floors, toilets, shower stalls, sinks and mirrors
  • Remove garbage and recycling from common areas 

Job Qualifications 

  • Minimum 1 to 2 years janitorial experience
  • Strong communication skills. Ability to speak, read, and write English
  • Excellent attention to detail and well-developed organization skills
  • WHIMIS or willing to obtain prior to start date 


Clerk 

General Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Register and check out camp residents using RDP Software
  • Provide safety orientation to residents as required
  • Assist guests and answer questions while addressing concerns
  • Ensure all paperwork is completed in a timely and accurate manner and submitted as per the required timelines.
  • Maintain constant communication with Head Office regarding occupancy adjustments
  • Assist with other duties as assigned, including Housekeeping  

Job Qualifications 

  • Minimum 1 to 2 years in a Clerk or Administrative role
  • Previous experience working in a remote camp in considered an asset
  • Strong knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Excel and Word
  • Strong communication skills. Ability to speak, read, and write English
