I)                   DEFINITION AND BASIC FUNCTION: This professional position establishes smooth operations of Lancaster City and Lititz Galleries, creates new community connections to support outside exhibitions, and works with the Development Department to build partnerships and create new opportunities for Individuals and local artists who participate at the Galleries (physical and/or on-line).

 

II)                ACCOUNTABILITY: The Friendship Heart Gallery Associate is supervised by the Associate Director of Operations for Day Services and is ultimately accountable to the Executive Team.

 

III)              AUTHORITY: The Gallery Associate oversees outside exhibitions and community events. The Gallery Associate has access rights to Outlook and the Shared Drive. This position is responsible for the operations of the Lancaster City and Lititz Galleries and works with the Development team to provide input and artwork for the Friendship Community on-line gallery.

 

IV)             RESPONSIBLITIES:

a)      Demonstrates a respectful positive attitude that promotes teamwork and service excellence to artists, artists’ families, fellow Team Members, and/or the general public.

b)      Maintains clean and inviting Galleries and Studio space.

c)      Organizes Gallery pieces for art shows/exhibits in conjunction with the Development Team

d)      Facilitates sale of orders, including packing and shipping items.

e)      Coordinates matting and framing of pieces for sale or display in the gallery or external show

f)       Works any events or exhibit showcases that contain Friendship Community artists’ pieces, when appropriate.

g)      Oversees sales associates, if applicable.

h)      Provides information for the Grant Writer to request grants for funding along with Development Team.

i)       Establishes promotional opportunities for the artist and their pieces.

j)       Manages day-to-day operations of the physical Galleries.

k)      Implements the annual business plan and revises with Friendship Community Leadership Team as necessary.

l)       Maintains accurate accounting records for artistic pieces and products sold along with the Finance and Development Team.

m)   Make connections with local artists.

n)      Stays involved in the Lancaster City art community through meetings and events.

o)      Maintains the inventory system accurately.

p)      Works with Development to provide monthly Board Reports as requested.

q)      Works with Friendship Heart Studio Team to bring art to the Galleries.

r)       Works with jury team to review the art that is exhibited.

s)      Works with retail partners (e.g., Primitives by Kathy) along with the Development Team.

t)       Attends Friendship Community Leadership meetings as invited.

 

V)                WORK SCHEDULE: This is a Max Part-Time hourly (20-24hrs/week), professional position with schedule dependent upon tasks needed for the day/week. Flexibility of hours will be required, including special events and occasional week nights and weekends to support the Gallery operations and Development Team.

 

VI)             EDUCATION AND SKILLS: The Gallery Associate should possess an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (art related degree preferred) and a minimum of two years experience with works of art and related product lines. Knowledge of the current and changing art trends is preferred. Knowledge of framing and matting pieces of art is preferred. The Gallery Associate must be a mature professional who is capable of proving leadership to Team Members and Artists. The Gallery Associate shall organize time and events related to managing the business and be comfortable networking and speaking with community businesses, private donors, funders, legislators, art institutes and the general public.
