Location: Hamilton, ON

Hours of Work: 35 hours per week

Start Date: July 8th, 2024

Contract End Date: August 30th, 2024

Provides administrative and organizational support for raising funds and event support to advance women and girls in Hamilton;

  • The Canada Summer Jobs - Fundraising Organizer supports ongoing operations in the Philanthropy and Communications department by helping with organize and inventory greatest needs items, supporting outreach and tabling events, and researching and prospecting donation and sponsorship opportunities;
  • The Canada Summer Jobs - Fundraising Support will receive guidance and support from the Campaign Officer;
  • Organizes and sort through donations and evaluate items for quality and condition;
  • Enters data on items received through inventory systems;
  • Tracks outgoing items to programs and services;
  • Demonstrates knowledge of donation needs and maintains donation spaces;
  • Supports fundraising events through collection and tracking of donated items and prizes;
  • Supports community outreach by assisting with tabling opportunities and events;
  • Research and plan donation outreach for items and gift cards needed for our holiday drive;
  • Research potential new donors and sponsorship opportunities for signature fundraising events;
  • Ensures compliance with policies and procedures;
  • Supports YWCA Hamilton’s mission, vision and values;
  • Maintain accurate files electronically and in hardcopy to ensure responsible administrative records and corporate memory;
  • Works safely and reports all workplace hazards and follows all YWCA Hamilton Health and Safety policies and procedures;
  • Perform other duties as required.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Works 35 hours per week;
  • Ability to use frequent light to medium physical effort; lifting up to 22kg, bending and stooping;
  • Hybrid work environment with both remote and in-person at MacNab location as well as community events;
  • Occasional evening and weekends may be required.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in or completion of a 2-year college diploma program in fundraising, business, social services, public relations, or marketing or equivalent;
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in inventory management, retail, and/or customer service;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks;
  • Professional or volunteer experience in the non-profit sector with fundraising experience is an asset;
  • Bilingual English/French or other languages an asset.

This is a temporary summer position which is funded by the Canada Summer Jobs Program. Eligible applications must meet the following criteria of the program to be considered:

  • Must be between the ages of 15-30 years on the first day of employment;
  • Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred;
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
