Full Time Lead Chef - 8 hr. Day Shift
Mother of Good Counsel Home is looking for a Lead Chef to join our team.

Position Summary
We are seeking a dependable, experienced, and passionate Lead Chef to elevate our kitchen operations. This role offers the opportunity to provide daily leadership, support a team of cooks, and ensure meals are executed with excellence. You will work closely with our Food Services Manager, but your primary focus will be hands-on kitchen leadership and quality control during prep and service.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily food prep and cooking in accordance with planned menus and dietary needs
- Serve as point person on the line, ensuring quality, portion control, and timeliness
- Mentor and support other cooks during service
- Train new kitchen staff on procedures and expectations
- Assist in inventory rotation, minimizing food waste
- Maintain food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness standards
- Support special events and modified meals as needed
Qualifications
- 3+ years experience in a professional or institutional kitchen
- Proven skill in cooking from scratch in volume settings
- ServSafe certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive, mission-aligned attitude
- Reliable, flexible, and respectful in working with older adults and team members
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for up to 8 hours
- Lift, carry, or push items over 50 lbs.
- Work in a warm kitchen environment for extended periods
