JOB SUMMARY:

The primary purpose of the Certified Nursing Assistant Transporter position is to provide each assigned resident with excellent daily nursing care and services to assure resident safety in accordance with the resident’s assessment and plan of care, and as may be directed by your supervisor. Under direct supervision, performs duties necessary to provide safe, courteous and efficient transport of patients, equipment, supplies and specimens to and from patient care areas and departments within the facility or campus assigned.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Admission, Transfer, and Discharge Functions

• Transports patients by assisting patients in and out of taxis, ambulances, and cars; lifting patients on and off beds; moving them to and from special service and treatment areas; using wheelchairs or moveable beds.

• Transports equipment and supplies; delivering them to assigned treatment areas and patient care areas.

• Transports laboratory specimens by picking-up specimens and delivering them to specified laboratory.

• Safely transport patients to and from each location by following all safety protocols/processes.

 • Retrieves and stores transport equipment.

• Uses wheelchairs and other approved rolling stock to carry out the essential duties of the position.

• Demonstrates competency in transporting all specific age groups including the use of patient lift equipment.

 • Ensures the safe, timely and accurate transport of patients to their destination using the proper requested equipment.

• Communicates effectively with nursing personnel, clinicians, technicians or reception and dispatch.

• Ensures the comfort of the patient by being attentive. Offers blankets, checks modesty and only engages in appropriate conversation involving patients. •
