Compensation: $24.00 - 28.00/hr

Start Date: immediately upon selection

Hours: 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday (flexibility required; 3-month probation and review)

The Front of House Supervisor plays a key leadership role at The Safe Cafe & Catering, a Street Culture Project social enterprise. This position oversees daily cafe operations, supports barista teams, ensures excellent customer service, and maintains a warm, inclusive environment where both staff and guests feel valued.


What You’ll Do

  • Lead daily front-of-house café operations and support staff during all shifts
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and performance support to Sr. Baristas, Baristas, Jr. Baristas, and Work Skills participants.
  • Ensure high-quality customer service and maintain a welcoming, trauma-informed environment.
  • Create daily social media content for The Safe Cafe’s platforms, promoting menu items, events, and community engagement.
  • Handle customer feedback and resolve concerns respectfully.
  • Coordinate staffing schedules and ensure appropriate coverage.
  • Support onboarding, training, and ongoing skill development.
  • Maintain FOH inventory levels, ordering supplies as needed.
  • Oversee cash-outs, POS accuracy, and daily reconciliation.
  • Uphold all food safety, hygiene, and WHMIS standards.
  • Collaborate with BOH/kitchen teams to ensure smooth service delivery.

What You Bring

We’re looking for someone who can show up with compassion, consistency, and curiosity.

  • Experience leading in a café, restaurant, or hospitality environment
  • Strong customer service and team leadership skills.
  • Ability to train, mentor, and support staff in a fast-paced setting.
  • Experience with inventory, cash handling, and POS systems.
  • Calm, professional approach to conflict or customer concerns.
  • Ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization.
  • Alignment with SCP’s core approaches: Trauma-Informed, Youth-Centered, Harm Reduction, and Nurtured Heart.

Additional Requirements

  • Food Safe Level 1 and WHMIS (or willingness to obtain)
  • Valid SK Driver’s License with clean abstract
  • Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector clearance (or willingness to obtain)
