The Role
We are seeking an experienced Food Services Supervisor to lead our shelter’s commercial kitchen operations. You will oversee daily meal preparation, ensure compliance with BC food safety standards, supervise kitchen staff and volunteers, and manage food inventory and purchasing. This role ensures our guests receive nutritious, safe, and welcoming meal services.
Key Responsibilities

Plan, organize, and oversee preparation and service of all shelter meals.

Maintain compliance with BC’s Food Premises Regulation; hold Foodsafe Level 2.

Supervise, train, and schedule kitchen staff and volunteers.

Manage food inventory, donations, and purchasing.

Ensure cleanliness, sanitation, and safe food handling.

Maintain kitchen logs, temperature records, and safety documentation.

Support special events and shelter-wide programs involving food services.
Qualifications

Foodsafe Level 2 certification (required).

Minimum 2 years’ supervisory experience in a commercial or institutional kitchen.

Strong knowledge of safe food handling and BC food safety regulations.

Experience working with vulnerable or marginalized populations an asset.

Excellent leadership, organization, and communication skills.

Physically able to lift 25–50 lbs and stand for extended periods.

Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
