Food Service Worker - SHOAL Centre
The Food Service Worker is a key member of the SHOAL Centre’s hospitality team, supporting an active senior community through high‑quality meal service and a welcoming dining experience. Reporting to the Manager of the SHOAL Centre, this role provides lunch and dinner food service to Assisted Living residents and the community in a dining room setting. This role supports catered special events and helps ensure that residents, activity centre participants, and community visitors enjoy a warm, safe, and engaging environment.
Days/Hours of Work: Fridays 10:30 am to 7:00 pm and Sundays 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain a safe and supportive work environment for volunteers, members, residents, and community members
- Setting up dining areas, delivering and putting away supplies, taking meal orders and serving food and beverages
- Deliver catering to and from events within the SHOAL Centre as required
- Accept payment for meals and/or initial Dinner and/or Lunch meal cards
- Perform limited food preparation and make tea and coffee
- Wash dishes using a commercial dishwasher and/or by hand
- Perform cleaning duties such as sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning sinks and counters, cleaning the kitchen and storage areas and removing garbage
- Maintain cleanliness and order in the walk-in cooler and freezer. Check the temperature and alert the Manager if not in the proper range
- Store and check supply, and perform inventory control, including rotation and expiry checks
- Perform other related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Grade 12 diploma or equivalent experience
- Experience in a customer service environment
- Experience within a seniors' facility or experience in a related setting is an asset
- First Aid and CPR certification an asset
- WHMIS Certificate (Completion upon Hiring
- Serving it Right (completion upon hiring)
- Food Safe Certification (completion upon hiring and renewed every 3 years)

- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to organize work and implement on time
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
