Food Service Cook
Looking for a full-time Cook, Monday – Friday, to prepare lunch and dinner for residents, create monthly menus, order groceries, and properly maintain the kitchen/dining area to meet City Health Code.
Candidate must have a Food Managers Certification, pass criminal history background check, pre-employment drug screen, TB test and FBI Fingerprint test. A current Texas driver’s license and reliable transportation is required as well as a current Texas Liability Insurance Card.
Job Description
· Maintain a clean and organized kitchen/dining area.
· Adhere to safety and sanitation standards as set forth by the City Health Department.
· Prepare lunch and dinner following food handling procedures and resident schedules.
· Assist in basic inventory needs and restocking of supplies as needed.
· Some Grocery shopping may be required.
· Create monthly menus
· Place weekly online orders
· Responsible for shutting down the kitchen at the end of shift.
· Additional duties as assigned.
· Knowledge of Vegan and Vegetarian meals a plus.
Qualifications:
· High School Diploma or equivalent
· Texas Food Managers Certification
· Two-year’s food service experience is preferred
· Understand food preparation and safety instructions
· Working knowledge of kitchen equipment and food production procedures
· Ability to operate the following equipment: oven, stove, grill, steam table, microwave oven and any other equipment necessary to prepare meals
· Must be able to read, write and speak English
· Ability to follow oral and written instructions
· Must be able to stand, stoop and reach
· Must be able to work in both hot and cold temperatures
