Job Description: Cameo is recruiting for a FOIA Analyst to support a Federal client at their regional facility. This role is perfect for a self-motivated professional who excels in a decentralized environment and is passionate about public service and legal compliance.
Hours of Operations: Employees must work 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. The schedule is flexible, but must be working during the mandatory core hours of 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM. The overall window for conducting business is between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM. Employees are on federal holidays and any days the government facility is closed for emergencies or administrative reasons. The contractor is responsible for ensuring a stable and continuous workforce is always available during open business days.
Key Responsibilities: In this role, you will support a Federal client by managing the entire lifecycle of Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests. Your key duties will include:
- Request Intake: Receive, analyze, and log new FOIA requests from the public via mail, email, and an online portal (FOIAXpress).
- Record Coordination: Identify and task the correct offices to search for records, then track and gather their responses.
- Document Review & Redaction: Analyze documents for information responsive to the request and redact legally protected information (e.g., personal privacy, law enforcement techniques) using Adobe and other tools.
- Case Management: Use specialized software (FOIAXpress) to manage, track, and update the status of all cases from start to finish.
- Communication: Draft professional correspondence, including acknowledgment letters and final response packages for approval.
- Legal Compliance: Ensure all work is performed in strict accordance with FOIA statutes, regulations, and agency guidelines.
- Administrative Support: Maintain detailed case files, prepare reports for leadership, and assist with archiving closed cases.
Qualifications:
- Three or more years of FOIA Analyst experience
- An Associate’s degree or equivalent experience (in lieu of a degree)
- Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Word, and Excel; Adobe Acrobat; Electronic FOIA processing tools (e.g., FOIAXpress, other case management systems); E-discovery tools.
