We are dedicated to preserving the timeless art of sport fishing while nurturing the next generation of anglers. This full-time position has an anticipated start date of approximately June 1st, 2024, and an end date of approximately September 1, 2024. Contract length is subject to change based on the location and the demands of the season.

Situated at Galiano Bay, Nootka Sound Resort is embraced by the rugged Canadian coastal mountains and enveloped in dense old-growth forest. A sought-after destination for corporate gatherings, this all-inclusive floating resort offers accessibility by both boat and floatplane, providing a unique retreat in the lap of nature. 

Requirements for Resort Chef: 

 

  • You have a Red Seal Certification or equivalent. 

  • Excellent kitchen management and leadership skills.   

  • Computer literacy including a strong grasp of Microsoft Work, Outlook, Excel, and Teams.   

  • Food Safet Level 2 

  • WHIMIS Certification   

  • Ability to lift 30lbs and stand for prolonged periods.   

 

Duties of Resort Chef: 

 

  • Ensure meticulous preparation and presentation of all meals at the resort, adhering to the standards set by the Executive Chef. 

  • Coordinate supply purchases, conduct regular audits for maintenance needs and inventories. 

  • Overseeing seasonal open and closing procedures, and maintaining high-quality food production and service standards. 

  • Manage department organization, workflow, and employee schedules. 

  • Supervise, assign tasks, and monitor employee productivity. 

  • Aid in achieving food cost target and set budgets by reducing waste and following set guidelines.   

  • Oversee and execute Staff Culinary program (lunch and Dinner) for 14 employees.  

  • Uphold positive and professional interactions with coworkers and guests. 

  • Effectively communicate with the Resort Manager and Executive Chef.
