First Responder Peer Supporter - Warmline

Position Summary:

At Thrive Behavioral Health Center, we deliver industry leading peer support for those suffering from Mental Health and/or Substance Use Disorders.  We are proud to set the industry standard and continue our growth. A First Responder Peer Supporter - Warmline is a trained individual who has lived experience with providing emergency services (EMS, Fire, or Law Enforcement) and is also in recovery from a substance use disorder and/or mental health.  The Peer Supporter-Frontline Provider Warmline will be a partner to promote wellbeing by engaging peers via a call-in line  in a personal and positive, supportive manner, demonstrating and inspiring hope, trust, and a positive outlook and optimize client connection with a broad range of community based services and natural supports.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide telephonic support to first responder peers seeking additional support and/or resources

  • Through identifying as a Frontline Provider and intentionally sharing their story; use this as appropriate means to assist clients, provide hope, and help in changing patterns and behaviors

  • Help peers understand the effects of  stress, PTSD, vicarious trauma, mental health needs, and substance use disorder 

  • Assist clients in finding resources for mental health and/or substance use disorder,  family support, and support groups

  • Teach and support acquisition and utilization of skills needed to sustain wellbeing 

  • Provide resources, information, and/or referral services to health and human services, government agencies and community-based organizations

  • Maintain records and provide assistance with appropriate documentation in files and computer database 

  • Maintain accurate information and referral call records

  • Responsible for maintaining accurate records and notes, confidentiality, and compiling timely reports

  • Achieve all performance goals 

  • Enter all peer notes in an accurate and timely manner including phone notes

  • Advocate for the needs of each individual

  • Complete caseload management including all necessary documentation

  • Communicate with healthcare staff to build a rapport and coordinate care

  • Other duties as assigned


Requirements:

  • Identify as a  frontline provider (EMS, Firefighter, Law Enforcement Officer) person with at least two years of experience

  • Certified Peer Supporter in the state of Ohio: IAFF Peer Support Certification, OMHAS Certification or other Frontline peer support certification

  • Working knowledge of different pathways to recovery and social systems including evidence based practices

  • Understands problems analysis, decision-analysis, evaluate interventions, and contingency plans

  • Ability to be an active listener by asking questions and reflecting on what is being said

  • Proficient level of ability with computer; Microsoft Office Products

  • Effective written and oral communication skills; ability to articulate information clearly

  • Valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with electronic health records or other industry related types of applications and software


Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent
