Firm Staff Accountant
Summary
The Firm Staff Accountant is given a wide variety of diversified accounting assignments under the supervision of the Controller. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the accounts payable process, ensuring accurate and timely processing of invoices, and maintaining vendor relationships. Additionally, they will assist with month-end close activities, reconciliations, and other accounting duties as needed. Performance is judged based on the quality of work, application of accounting knowledge, ability to meet time constraints, and positive displays of professional conduct. This position supports the firm by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Accounts Payable (A/P) Management:
- Uploads and codes invoices in electronic software (Bill.com)
- Resolves A/P issues
- Processes expense reports
- Updates and reconciles sub-ledger to G/L
- Processes checks
Month-End Close Activities:
- Assist with journal entries and account reconciliations
- Assist with monthly Goodwill calculations
Financial Record Keeping:
- Maintains records of all financial documents with appropriate supporting material and updates records as necessary
Budget Support
- Provides schedules and data for annual budget process
Year-End Tax Documentation
- Prepares and files vendor 1099s, Occupational Licenses, and Property Tax Renewals
Revenue Recognition
- Prepare documentation for revenue recognition on the G/L
Collaboration
- Collaborate with other members of the accounting team to ensure accurate financial reporting
Supervisory Responsibilities
Assist in overseeing the accounting team’s tasks, including billings, accounts receivable (AR), accounts payable (AP), and client management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 2+ years of experience in accounting or accounts payable
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Possess general understanding of accounting practices and principles
- Must possess proficient ability to communicate in oral and written format
- Ability to apply discretion and trust with confidential material
- Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering financial data
- Ability to effectively apply analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent time managing skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in use of computers and have knowledge of computer accounting software programs used by the firm such as Axcess, SAGE Intacct, Bill.com, and/or Expensify. Microsoft Office experience, specifically Excel, is required.
