The staff of the Oxford Fire and Emergency Services are working hard to become a leader in training, staff development, and retention.
We are currently accepting applications for one (1) full-time benefit eligible Firefighter/Paramedic. This is a non-supervisory position which specializes in Fire-EMS-Rescue operations and emergency medical care for the sick and injured. The Firefighter/Paramedic will perform all functions in prevention and suppression of fires, rescues and/or extrications from any life-threatening circumstances, Hazardous Materials mitigation to extent allowed and provides other emergency and non-emergency services as directed by senior officers. The Firefighter/Paramedic will provide Advanced Life Support Emergency Medical Care in accordance with Massachusetts Law, Statewide EMS Protocols, physician written or verbal orders, and in compliance with Departmental orders, policies, and directives. The Firefighter/Paramedic will participate in the required training classes. She/he will complete and monitor checklists, reports, forms, and other legal documents each shift. She/he will maintain all assigned equipment in proper operating condition as well as monitor and always maintain response vehicles in response ready condition. Salary range is $29.58 to $34.29 per hour depending on training and experience. Personnel are also eligible for an education stipend: Masters $7,800 annually, Bachelors $5,200 annually, Associates $2,600 annually and a physical fitness stipend of $800.
The minimum qualifications for the Firefighter/Paramedic are:
· Graduation from high school, or GED
· Graduation/Completion from an accredited EMS Training Program and certified as a paramedic
· American Heart Association CPR/Defib certification required
· Must possess a valid Driver’s License
· Preferred Qualifications
· Career firefighter/Paramedic lateral transfer from a full-time fire department
NOTE: Per the Collective Bargaining Agreement with IAFF Local 4634: A full-time professional academy trained firefighter who is hired by the Department as a lateral transfer may submit a request to the Town Manager to be granted seniority credit for vacation purposes only. The amount of credit to be granted, if any, will be at the sole discretion of the Town Manager and shall not exceed what an Oxford firefighter would be eligible for based on service in Oxford.
· Firefighter I/II Certification
· Paramedic Certification
· Graduate of the Recruit Firefighter or Massachusetts Call/Volunteer Firefighter Programs
Alcohol, controlled substance, physical examination, Physical Agility Test (PAT waived for lateral transfer), and criminal background testing is mandatory.
