DOING RIGHT BY PEOPLE – IT’S WHAT WE DOAt Payworks, the Product Manager plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of our workforce management software. You will act as the voice of the customer with user empathy and human-centered design thinking, when developing new and enhancing existing products within Payworks’ product lines. Leveraging the knowledge you gain through customer needs analysis, market research, new opportunities and competitive threats, you will guide and prioritize the business requirements to bring the best possible solution to our customers. This role will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, design, marketing and customer service, to deliver value with features that meet customer outcomes and drive growth for our business.

- Uncover client problems – Engaging in a wide range of external and internal user problem analysis, market research and competitive analysis, you will work with clients to understand their pain points as well as investigate market trends and competitive conditions. Leveraging the information you gather, you will develop a deep understanding of the different users, personas and customers operations and ensure that we are building products and services that meet our client’s needs.
- Develop a roadmap – You will play a key role in defining our product vision and strategy. Based on data driven insights, you will define and prioritize the product roadmap and help shape the release and sprint plan for delivery and execution. It will be your responsibility to gather requirements from stakeholders, monitor product performance, prioritize initiatives and determine scopes of work, ensuring our product remains competitive in the market.
- Work with a team – Collaborating with a team of Product Analysts, Product Designers, Business Analysts, Technical Leads, Developers and Quality Assurance Analysts throughout development cycles, you will ensure timely delivery of features. You will also act as a cross-functional link between various teams and departments – receiving feedback from Service, Implementation, Product Operations, Sales and Marketing, leading and creating org readiness content and communicating product updates and releases to Management.
- Make great products even better – Staying at the forefront of product development, you will proactively seek opportunities to update your knowledge and constantly participate in professional development on both the professional and technical aspects of the field. This knowledge will then be applied to improve the Payworks’ products in our chosen markets. You may also have the opportunity to be a Payworks ambassador at industry and customer events across Canada.
- 3-5 years of experience as a Product Manager or Senior Product Owner in an Agile environment, preferably in workforce management and SaaS domains.
- Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field of study and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Familiarity with HCM processes and a track record of delivering enterprise and/or platform solutions in regulated environments like HR, operations, finance, or payroll.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
- Passion for solving complex problems and delivering exceptional user experiences.
- Proven record of launching new capabilities on time, with quality and value.
- A professional and positive communication style and expert presentation skills. You need to be comfortable presenting to stakeholders of all levels to clearly convey information.
- Excellent time management, creative thinking and interpersonal skills.
- Certification in Product Management (e.g., Pragmatic Institute, AIPMM) would be nice to have.
