Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Responsible for implementing the fatherhood programming through the Fatherhood PRIDE initiative program that involves fathers in the lives of their children to promote quality health care for women and children, prevent poor birth outcomes and help in the development of healthy babies.

 

Specific Activities:

Fatherhood and Infant Mortality Services Coordination

·         Oversee successful implementation of fatherhood services.

·         Develop, implement and update policy/protocol for program.

·         Develop and manage memoranda of understanding.

·         Assist with development of promotional and educational materials.

·         Provide education and facilitate fatherhood groups as needed

·         Train and monitor staff and volunteers on evidence-based fatherhood and infant mortality curricula

·         Support fatherhood initiatives implemented by the Northeast Florida Healthy Start Coalition.

·         Initiate and follow-up on referrals for fathers requesting such services, such as mental health counseling, substance abuse counseling, legal services, individual skill building, literacy skills, employment and education, and financial planning.

·         Provide specialized agency support to partnering agencies providing responsible fatherhood-related activities.

·         Serve as champion for promoting responsible fatherhood within the programs of NEFHSC and other community agencies.

·         Engage and educate community residents, neighborhood groups, church leaders, businesses and civic organizations in areas with high infant mortality rates.

·         Enlist infant mortality advocates in the community and train them on the risk factors that contribute to poor birth outcomes and provide them with tools to discuss the subject with other members of the community.

 

Grant Management

·         Complete all grant management and other agency paperwork as directed for funders

  • Complete required reports and participate in technical assistance activities and meetings of the funding agency.

 

Fiscal Management

·         Develop and monitor budget for compliance with federal spending regulations and spending limits, as well as alignment with Coalition fiscal policies.

 

Staff Development & Supervision

·         Supervisory responsibilities include providing employee feedback including conducting timely 90-day and annual performance evaluation, and all other duties related to professionally directing and managing a staff.

·         Review and evaluate staff performance and develop competencies that support and achieve the Coalition and department goals.

·         Accountable for consistently administering and implementing the Coalition policies and procedures.

·         Enhance, implement and facilitate the Fatherhood program to ensure that identified members will be served per the program requirements.

·         Accountable for the reporting process for the accurate and timely completion, tracking and monitoring of weekly, monthly and quarterly and annual activities and duties as required by the program.

 

Other:

·         All other duties as assigned by the Chief Operating Officer.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

·         Bachelor’s Degree in human services, health or early childhood. At least three years’ program management experience required.

·         May substitute eight or more years of professional experience in community services and/or counseling with high-risk populations in non-profit sector.

·         Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer services.

·         Knowledge of health and human service providers.

·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external clients.

·         Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook).

·         Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.

·         Ability to work flexible traditional and non-traditional hours.

·         Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Coalition partner agency staff and the general public.

·         Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.

·         Must be able to communicate effectively and be a team player at the Coalition.

·         Must be able to commit to the Coalition vision and be passionate about its mission.

·         Requires reliable transportation as travel is required, valid driver’s license, good driving record and automobile insurance.

Physical Requirements:

·         Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, and other federal, state and local standards.

·         Must be able to travel to alternate locations.

·         Required to sit, stand, walk, speak and hear while performing the duties of this job, regularly. The position requires extensive computer use so the employee must have sufficient hand dexterity to use a computer keyboard and be capable of reading a computer screen

·         Lifting/carrying up to 25 pounds.

This position is dependent upon the continuation of funding. As such this position may terminate when the funding is no longer available.
