Farmer's Market Staff/ Marketeer
As a Farmer’s Market Staff/Marketeer you will perform all functions relating to the maintenance and proper preparation of the farmer’s market stall. Additionally, you will have to be able to lift at least 50 pounds and willing to work in adverse weather conditions. Marketeer must also be able to work quickly efficiently and able to adjust for unexpected circumstances. You will ensure a positive Atwater’s image by providing courteous, friendly, and effective customer service. Must be able to work Saturday and/or Sunday.
Responsibilities (include but not limited to):
- Load food items and supplies required to take to the market.
- Unload the van after returning from the market: make sure items are placed at the designated spot.
- Ensure special orders are prepared and brought to the farmer’s market.
- Make sure food items are label correctly.
- Ensure food items are bagged correctly.
- Make sure the customers are being taken care of and the stall looks clean and neat at all times.
- Ensure food items and presentation meets health department standards and safe work practices.
- Ensure proper procedure of customer check out: making the correct change.
- Document waste/spoilage, leftovers, and expenses on the appropriate form.
- Follow the directions to fill out the “Market Money Form”
- Make sure the van is clean and organized.
Qualifications:
- Ability to drive a van (must submit a clean driving record from MVA).
- Ability to follow instructions and established procedures.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers.
- Basic math skills.
- Basic knowledge of ingredient information and products of Atwater’s.
- Ability to perform physical requirements: lift loads not to exceed 50 pounds, unassisted.
- Stand and walk for an extended period of time.
- Work in varying temperatures and weather conditions.
Experiences: Previous Customer/Food Service experience
Compensation: $18.50 - $20 per hour
Example of a Market Shift (Market - hours varies depending on which market you are assigned to):
5:30 am Arrive at the bakery, load up the van, collect market supplies
6:00 am Leave bakery, drive to market location
7:15 am Arrive at the market location, unload, set up a market stand
9:00 am Market opens: Interact with customers, complete sales, keep the market stand stocked and presentable
1:00 pm Pack upmarket stand, inventory product returns
1:15 pm Leave market, drive back to the bakery
2:30 pm Arrive at the bakery, unload the van, return supplies, complete paperwork
3:00 pm Market shift ends
