Family Preservation Worker

Join Beacon Community Services as a Family Preservation Worker, where you will support children, youth, and caregivers involved with the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) to build stronger, safer, more stable family environments. This role combines home‑based support, parenting coaching, and collaborative case planning to strengthen family functioning and help caregivers develop the skills they need to thrive. This is a temporary position to cover maternity leave from May 2026 to January 2028

Days/Hours of Work: 30 hours/week with flexible scheduling 

Closing Date: Applications will be accepted until April 1 at noon. In-person interviews will take place on April 9, 2026.  

What You’ll Do 

• Provide in‑home and community‑based support to children, youth, and caregivers referred by MCFD
• Help families build healthy routines, positive communication patterns, and strong parenting practices
• Facilitate supervised family visits and provide transportation for children and youth when required
• Collaborate with MCFD social workers, foster caregivers, schools, and community partners
• Maintain accurate case notes, reports, and documentation in compliance with program and FOIPPA standards
• Support a trauma‑informed, strengths‑based, culturally responsive service approach

What You Bring 

• Diploma/degree in Child & Youth Care, Social Work, Human Services, or a related field
• Two or more years’ experience supporting families with complex needs or child protection involvement
• Strong understanding of child development, parenting strategies, and family systems
• Demonstrated ability to build trust, de‑escalate conflict, and support emotional regulation
• Excellent documentation and communication skills
• Valid First Aid/CPR, Class 5 Driver’s License, and reliable vehicle
