Job Summary:

Reporting to the Manager of Family Preservation and Reunification, the Family Preservation Program Resources Assistant (FPRA) works closely with Family Preservation and Reunification Program staff, across agency programs, with community professionals and the Indigenous community to provide a high level of service to children, youth and families served by VACFSS. The position is guided the Program Policy of Family Preservation and Reunification, Standing with Families and the Child, Family and Community Service Act (CFCSA).

The FPRA will provide functional resource support and assistance to the Family Preservation Program including Counsellors, In-Home Support and Strengthening Families Programs. Areas of support will include:

Assists the Program with maintaining a registry for basic needs required for families such as housing, food banks, health, and wellness community programs.

Transportation assistance for clients to the Strengthening Father and Families Programs and or visitation.

Temporary processing assistance for In-Home Support referrals as needed.

The position provides a variety of administrative, clerical, organizational and coordination responsibilities for resource supports to the Family Preservation Program which may also be shared across internal programs.

The position may assist with coordinating and organizing training events, informational sessions, community meetings/events and other supporting duties as required. Other duties may be assigned to this position related to the classification considering education and experience.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

  • BSW or;
  • BA in a related human service field; or two-year diploma in Child and Youth Care, Social Work, or Child Care with two years’ experience working with children, youth and families in a related field or;
  • Completion of two years of a four-year degree in Social Work or Child and Youth Care with two years’ experience working with children, youth and families in a related field.

  • This position requires Union membership.

  • This position requires the incumbent to be available in the office. Remote work is unavailable
