Facilities & Maintenance Technician

Role: A Facilities & Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring all Fidelity Occupied Facilities are kept in a good state of repair. They have knowledge of building systems and their required maintenance. They work with all facility managers and staff to ensure proactive maintenance is completed properly and on time. They track and maintain a database of system maintenance. They react to any disrepair found or brought to their attention in all Fidelity occupied facilities to ensure these are rectified in a timely fashion. They assist in in other areas of operations as required.

 

Duties Include:

  • Ensure proactive maintenance is completed on all Fidelity Manufacturing Group Facilities
  • Create and maintain maintenance schedules for facility related items such as Heating, Cooling, Air Compressors, etc.
  • Acts as a central point of contact for any repairs or maintenance required on facilities
  • Perform general maintenance tasks i.e. electrical, carpentry, plumbing, painting
  • Update database monthly with completed maintenance reports
  • Investigate and propose mitigation strategies to prevent future problems with facilities
  • Coordinate contractors to make repairs that cannot be completed in house
  • Oversee our in-house janitorial staff and their duties
  • Oversee our Uniform program
  • Assist with operations, machine maintenance, material saw cutting and special projects as needed

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum High School education or equivalent. Mandatory that this role take part in a criminal record check and controlled goods screening.
  • General facilities knowledge pertaining to commercial buildings with the ability to work on, repair, or trouble shoot basic plumbing, electrical, mechanical issues and basic landscaping/ irrigation systems.
  • Knowledge of power and hand tools used in facilities maintenance.
  • Mechanically inclined.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to lift up to approximately 50 lbs, climb ladders, stand for long periods of time
  • Must have valid class 5 driver's license and comfortable driving trucks.
  • Forklift and Crane license an asset.
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety standards and procedures.
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and writing in English.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft computer software (e.g. Excel, Word, etc.) and email.
  • Ability to use computers, laptops, tablets, cell phones to view tickets and take actions.

Experience:

·        2 to 4 years of work experience in building maintenance.

·        Experience in the machining industry is considered an asset.

 

Core Work hours:

·        6am-2:30pm Monday – Friday

·        Some flexibility required for the coordination of outside contractors/ repairs on an as needed basis.
