Work schedule: Full-Time, Year-Round, Monday – Friday, 6:30am – 2:30pm (winter hours), 7:00am – 3:00pm (summer hours), occasional weekends, some overtime required. Taking emergency calls after hours may be required. 

About Us: McInnis & Holloway is an independent, progressive funeral home that embraces new ideas, fresh approaches, and new technology. Family owned and operated, with nine locations in the community and has been one of Calgary and southern Alberta’s most respected funeral homes since 1903.

Job Duties to include but not be limited to:

  • Perform general repairs that do not require a specialized technician. Examples may include repairing drywall, painting, and repairing doors and other building fixtures. 
  • General repair and construction of furniture and office equipment. 
  • Moving or relocating of inventory, equipment, or office equipment, if necessary.
  • Maintenance and upkeep of grounds and parking lots. Removing garbage. 
  • Maintaining fountains and outside features. Snow removal. Weed control.
  • Ensuring the safety of buildings and surroundings.

Qualifications Required:

  • Knowledge of general maintenance, carpentry, painting, plumbing, general repair, 2+yrs of experience preferred
  • The ability to follow instructions from supervisors or senior maintenance workers 
  • Must be able to reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. 
  • Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing to 50lbs.
  • Require a driver’s abstract with a valid class 5 drivers’ license with less than 6 demerits, a clean insurance letter and a security clearance (police check).
  • Able to navigate within Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams and Google docs.
  • Demonstrated heightened situational awareness and ability to adapt to a changing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and structure your work independently while keeping priorities in line with the needs of the company and families we serve. 
  • Working within the scope of your abilities and time management. 
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot issues and research best repair option. Ability to use local supplier knowledge to find parts and repair solutions.

  • Wage dependent on experience - 37.5-hour work week
