Position Summary:

The Electrical Technician supports the day-to-day operations of the electrical department by assisting electricians and shop staff with the preparation, assembly, and maintenance of electrical components and systems. This position plays a key role in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment while contributing to the efficient production and service of electrical equipment.

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Wiring Support: Assist electricians with cutting, stripping, pulling, and labeling wire; lay out and prep electrical harnesses and cable assemblies.
  • Panel Assembly: Help install breakers, relays, terminal blocks, and other components into electrical panels under supervision.
  • Parts Prep & Inventory: Organize and prepare electrical parts, hardware, and tools for active jobs; restock bins and assist with inventory counts.
  • Testing & Inspection Prep: Support basic continuity checks and equipment staging under direction; assist with labeling, tagging, and documentation.
  • Material Handling: Move wire spools, enclosures, conduit, and other materials using carts, dollies, or forklifts where trained.
  • Shop Maintenance: Keep the electrical shop clean and organized by sweeping floors, removing waste, cleaning tools, and maintaining workstations.
  • Tool Maintenance: Clean and inspect tools after use; store appropriately and report damaged or missing tools to the electrical lead.
  • Safety & PPE Compliance: Follow all safety protocols including lockout/tagout procedures and use of PPE; report hazards promptly.
  • Other duties as assigned to support electricians, manufacturing teams, and overall shop operations.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in an industrial shop environment, with exposure to engine fluids, dust, noise, and high-powered equipment.
  • Some outdoor work or exposure to cold/hot environments may be required.
  • Must wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, boots, gloves, and hearing protection as necessary.

Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic understanding of hand tools and power tools; familiarity with electrical tools is an asset.
  • Able to lift 50+ lbs and perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods.
  • Willingness to learn and follow detailed instructions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Safety-focused with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred.
