Essential functions:

As a key member of the service department team, the technician is responsible to diagnose and recommend repairs for vehicles. 

1. Performs the necessary work requested by the customer to include engine, body, electrical, air conditioning, brake work steering, suspension, and wheel alignment.
2. Completes State inspections with the use of the NYS emission inspection computer as assigned.
3. Removes and stores any loose, broken or spare parts to maintain clean work areas including lift areas and general shop areas.
4. Operates vehicle lifts in a safe manner.
5. Purchases, upkeeps, and stores personal tools.
6. Can utilize a wheel alignment rack to complete four-wheel alignments on vehicle and light truck.
7. Operates tire mounting machines, tire balancing machines, hydraulic jacks, welding equipment and various power hand tools in a safe and efficient manner.
8. Operates scan tools as needed for diagnosis. Utilizes databases such as Alldata and Identifix.
9. Operates Air Conditioning Recovery machine.
10. Safely test drives vehicles to verify customer complaints and verify completed repairs.
11. Reviews Shop Manual and all Vehicle Manuals periodically for both updating of procedures and problem-solving.

Requirements:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); with 3 years prior experience.

Must have industry related tools specific for this type of work.

Must be a highly dependable person who can add to the success of our company.

Certificates and Licenses:

Valid driver's license - must meet underwriting requirements.

NY State Inspectors license

Physical demands:

Technician is required to use hands; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; climb or balance; must frequently lift and/or move up to 50-75 pounds.

Pay Plan and Benefits:

Hourly pay plan starts at $22/hour and higher; determined by experience.
