Essential functions:
As a key member of the service department team, the technician is responsible to diagnose and recommend repairs for vehicles.
- Performs the necessary work requested by the customer to include engine, body, electrical, air conditioning, brake work steering, suspension, and wheel alignment.
- Completes State inspections with the use of the NYS emission inspection computer as assigned.
- Removes and stores any loose, broken or spare parts to maintain clean work areas including lift areas and general shop areas.
- Operates vehicle lifts in a safe manner.
- Purchases, upkeeps, and stores personal tools.
- Can utilize a wheel alignment rack to complete four-wheel alignments on vehicle and light truck.
- Operates tire mounting machines, tire balancing machines, hydraulic jacks, welding equipment and various power hand tools in a safe and efficient manner.
- Operates scan tools as needed for diagnosis. Utilizes databases such as Alldata and Identifix.
- Operates Air Conditioning Recovery machine.
- Safely test drives vehicles to verify customer complaints and verify completed repairs.
- Reviews Shop Manual and all Vehicle Manuals periodically for both updating of procedures and problem-solving.
Requirements:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); with 3 years prior experience.
Must have industry related tools specific for this type of work.
Must be a highly dependable person who can add to the success of our company.
Certificates and Licenses:
Valid driver's license - must meet underwriting requirements.
NY State Inspectors license
Physical demands:
Technician is required to use hands; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; climb or balance; must frequently lift and/or move up to 50-75 pounds.
Pay Plan and Benefits:
Hourly pay plan starts at $22/hour and higher; determined by experience.
