Position Summary:
The Executive Director Intern will support the leadership team in the overall management and daily operations of our assisted living community. This internship offers hands-on experience in senior living administration, regulatory compliance, resident care coordination, team leadership, and community engagement. The ideal candidate is a proactive and compassionate individual aspiring to build a career in healthcare or senior living management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Executive Director in the day-to-day management of community operations.
- Participate in meetings related to staffing, budgeting, compliance, and resident services.
- Learn and help ensure adherence to state licensing requirements and safety regulations.
- Support initiatives that enhance resident satisfaction and quality of life.
- Work with department heads (nursing, culinary, housekeeping, activities, etc.) to understand interdisciplinary coordination.
- Assist with marketing, tours, and family communications as needed.
- Help monitor and improve operational processes and resident care standards.
- Prepare reports, presentations, or audits as assigned.
- Shadow and assist in staff management, scheduling, and conflict resolution.
Learning Objectives:
- Gain a comprehensive understanding of leadership roles in a senior living community.
- Develop skills in team supervision, regulatory compliance, and resident-centered care.
- Learn operational functions including budgeting, HR, marketing, and quality assurance.
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Healthcare Administration, Gerontology, Business, Nursing, or a related field.
- Strong interest in senior living, long-term care, or healthcare leadership.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Compassionate, respectful, and sensitive to the needs of the elderly population.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Preferred:
- Previous experience in a healthcare, customer service, or administrative setting.
- Knowledge of assisted living or long-term care industry practices and regulations.
Working Conditions:
- On-site role in a residential care environment.
- May require flexible scheduling, including occasional evenings or weekends.
- Physical ability to navigate the community and interact with residents.
