IMC is currently hiring a Hospital Cafe Chef for our Dietary team on a full time basis. This position will be in charge of cooking and overseeing the Cafe & doctor's lounge hot line items, supervision of the Cafe, assisting with ordering and all catering functions for IMC.  *Details outlined below

EDUCATION/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • A.O.S. Degree in Culinary Arts or culinary certificate and required experience 
  • Some progressive culinary/kitchen management experience, depending upon formal degree or training 
  • Catering experience is a plus 
  • High volume, complex foodservice operations experience is required
  • Comprehensive knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation 
  • Must be experienced with computers including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Power Point), Outlook, E-mail and the Internet 
  • ServSafe certified is highly desirable

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for cooking all of the café and doctor’s lounge hot lines items (Entrees/Starches/Vegetables/Soups etc.)
  • Must be able to cook large quantities/batches of food (150-200 portions daily)
  • This position will be responsible for ensuring a menu is posted in the doctor’s lounge daily. Follow the doctor’s lounge steamtable schematic daily. 
  • Chef must ensure all areas are ready and zoned for service daily, including desserts, hot-line, grill, salad/soup bar, and pizza station.
  • Throughout all café and doctor’s lounge meal services, this position will periodically check the hot lines making sure there is an adequate amount of food available and cook more food if needed.
  • During staff shortages, Chef will be in charge of delegating duties to working staff to ensure continuity of service.
  • Use printed order guides to inventory/determine what is needed for café, doctor’s lounge, and catering requests.
  • Responsible for cooking for all catering functions
  • Plan function menus 1 week in advance for ordering purposes.
