ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Appleby College’s Summer Boarding Program welcomes participants from around the world with diverse languages and backgrounds. Participants attend Appleby College to improve their English language skills and experience Canadian culture.
The program mirrors the Appleby College student experience, providing participants with an authentic sense of life as an Appleby student. Participants live in boarding, attend ESL classes, summer enrichment camp courses, or day camp programming, and take part in extracurricular activities and off-campus excursions. THE ROLE
Residing on campus at Appleby College, the Boarding Staff, Summer Boarding Programs are responsible for the supervision, well-being, and safety of all participants living in boarding. Reporting to the Program Director, Summer Boarding, this position supports the Appleby Summer Program’s mission to create an exceptional on-campus living experience.
WHAT MAKES THIS JOB AWESOME
• Supervise the boarding house to ensure participant safety,
and actively engage in all aspects of daily life — including activities, meals,
on-campus events, and off-campus excursions.
• Support the Program Director in planning activities and excursions.
• Complete incident reports and communicate medical or behavioural issues to
the Program Director, Summer Boarding.
• Facilitate meaningful recreation programming during evenings and weekends.
• Build positive relationships with participants by being approachable,
supportive, and visible in the residence community.
• Promote open communication and a positive culture in collaboration with the
Program Director, Summer Boarding, and the Assistant Director, Ancillary
Boarding Programs.
• Follow all summer program policies and procedures, including Appleby’s Mutual
Respect Policy.
• Work with summer camp staff to ensure participants are fully engaged in camp
activities and arrive on time and prepared each day.
• Coordinate with Enrichment and ESL instructors to ensure punctuality and
readiness for classes.
• Facilitate or drive participants to outings, excursions, and the airport
using Appleby vehicles.
• Assist with airport arrivals and departures, including luggage handling,
check-in and out procedures, and flight monitoring.
• Capture photos and videos of participants when Communications Team members
are unavailable to be used for Social Media.
YOU WILL BE A GREAT FIT IF YOU:
• Are enrolled in post-secondary education.
• Have prior experience in boarding, recreation, or camps (an asset).
• Can communicate in a second or multiple languages (a strong asset).
•Hold Bronze Cross and/or NLS lifeguarding certification (a
strong asset).
• Are skilled at building relationships with peers, participants, and staff.
• Are energetic, dynamic, and confident leading group activities.
• Can remain calm and effective in emergencies.
• Are reliable, team-oriented, professional, and creative.
• Have training in student safety and mental health (an asset).
• Are willing to travel with participants as required.
• Can work evenings and weekends.
• Are able to reside on campus for the duration of employment.
• Have a valid Ontario G driver’s license to operate Appleby College vans.
• Hold valid Standard First Aid and CPR – C certification.
• Are open to occasional overtime.

- June 25 – August 23, 2026
- Weekly evenings and weekends, five days per week 2 consecutive mid-week days off per week (Monday / Tuesday / Wedenesday / Thursday)
- Weekday On-Duty Hours
(Hours may vary):
- Morning Duty: 7:30am to 9:30am
- OFF: 9:30am to 3:00pm
- Afternoon On-Duty Rotation: 3:30 to 11:00pm (Break schedule varies)
- Weekend On-Duty hours vary based on weekly excursion schedule.
