Estimator–Custom Home & Light Commercial
POSITION SUMMARY
The Estimator is responsible for providing accurate quotes of windows and doors based upon takeoff from plans to the Custom Home and Commercial sales team. Requirements include understanding building codes pertinent to fenestration and being well versed in all window and door manufacturers we represent (pricing, specifications and differences between other manufacturers).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Provide accurate and fully detailed estimates on Custom Homes and Light Commercial projects.
- Review building blueprint plans to provide proposals to meet building codes per state and local regulations.
- Assist Sales with completion of proposals and revisions as needed.
- Continuous education of up?to?date knowledge of products and codes.
- Consult with vendors and personnel in other departments to discuss and formulate estimates and assist in resolving issues.
- Analyze blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost and materials.
- Assess effectiveness of products ensuring we are offering the best products in terms of cost and use for successful projects.
- Prepare estimates for use in selecting vendors.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)
High level knowledge of codes, products and assemblies/construction of windows and doors.
Ability to understand and read building plans
Proficient utilizing technology (Windows, MS Office Suite, Adobe)
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in contract bidding or construction related field
Willingness and ability to perform manual work following verbal and written instructions
Some knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials, and supplies used in heavy/highway construction work
Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule
Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing
Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions
Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
