ESS Temporary PRN Night Relief Worker
Job Summary: The emergency safe shelter is open 24-7 with trained staff. The Shelter Relief Worker must possess a 2-year degree in Human Services or a related field and be available to work PRN with open availability on holidays, weekends, weekdays, and overnights. Responsibilities include providing direct and indirect services with integrity, energy, optimism, temperament, non-judgmental attitude, and compassion to all residents. Employee must be able to perform physical tasks of lifting up to 30lbs and climbing up and down stairs.
Responsibilities
1. Provide direct services to victims including crisis intervention and support services.
2. Perform administrative duties, as well as indirect duties including housekeeping, repairs, and cleaning.
3. Possess knowledge of local resources for women and children.
4. Protect client confidentiality at all times and the security of the shelter by enforcing house policies and guidelines for health and safety purposes.
5. Communicate effectively with residents, staff, volunteers, law enforcement and other agencies in a timely manner and fashion.
6. Must be available to work night, weekends, holidays, and overnight.
7. Answer shelter phone line and crisis line promptly, providing accurate information.
8. Adequately document services in Collaborate and daily shift reports; assist residents in completing requests for orders of protection.
9. Complete intakes and paperwork within 24 hours of residents entering shelter and follow up with daily goals.
10. Assist with processing donations, distribution, storage and inventory.
11. Must be able to lift and walk up and down stairs.
12. Provide transportation, referrals, court accompaniment, and resources for residents.
13. Provide superior communication when interacting with shelter residents utilizing trauma informed care approach.
14. Facilitate support groups and life skills groups for the women and activity/support groups for the children.
15. Must demonstrate integrity, excellent listening skills, steady temperament, and effective problem-solving techniques.
16. Complete Pee Dee Coalition Volunteer training within 3 months of employment.
17. Adhere to agency confidentiality, policies, procedures, and code of ethics.
18. Complete Victim Service Provider training with 1 year of employment.
19. Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.
20. Participate in shelter staff meetings as required.
Requirements:. Associates degree in Human Services or a related field.
