Equipment Operator (Afternoon Shift)

Shift: 2:30pm-11:00pm

Job Duties

  • To operate the CAT and John Deere loader, the forklift and bobcat safely, according to the operating manual and established health and safety procedures.
  • To successfully complete all equipment training and certification courses.
  • To operate all baler controls for Nexgen and IPS Balers and troubleshoot and reset balers and wire tier when not functioning.
  • To operate the baler safely, according to the operating manual and established health and safety procedures.
  • To load the drum feeders on the tipping floor with the front end loader.
  • To load the hopper at the glass plant and feed the Nexgen and IPS balers with the front end loader.
  • To push up loads from recycling trucks on the tipping floor with the front end loader
  • To fill supersacs with fibre or containers on the tipping floor for auditing purposes.
  • To push loads of recycling through the push through bunkers to the baler.
  • To load dump trailers with residue and other materials with the front end loader.
  • To inspect, clean and properly store bales. This includes ensuring all bales are stored a minimum of four feet from the wall stacked 2 to a maximum 4 high.
  • To inspect all bales prior to shipment and remove any visible contaminants.
  • To take all required pictures of export loads with company provided digital camera and return to office staff daily.
  • To sweep floors as required and maintain clean and organized loading dock areas.
  • To attend safety training sessions and wear all required personal protective equipment.
  • To perform daily circle checks and submit written reports to Supervision.
  • To perform minor loader and forklift maintenance including blowing out the radiator, checking fluid levels and removing material from the underside of the unit. For the bobcat the back cover must be free of material at all times.
  • To perform minor maintenance on rolling stock including blowing out the radiator on a daily basis.
  • To keep the bale ejection area clean at all times.
  • To report any problems immediately to Supervision.
  • To ensure loose materials from baling process are placed in the proper bunker beside the baler and taken to the appropriate area in the plant for reprocessing.
  • To report any problems immediately to Supervision.

Requirements

  • Valid G class drivers license;
    Experience in operating forklift and loader is required;
  • Employee must successfully complete formal training course on Forklift Truck and Loader Safety (to be paid for by the Company).
  • Employee must be willing to work on Saturdays, when required.
  • Employee must successfully complete in-house evaluation program to be conducted by Supervision.
