Purpose
BGS is seeking applications for a technical writer position focused on creating the documentation required to establish a new engineering organization. This engineering organization supports the development and deployment of equipment utilized to process uranium-bearing and stable isotope compounds. The individual is to work at the client’s site to provide document origination and revisions to facilitate the design, fabrication, procurement, assembly, and testing activities for multiple enrichment technology programs.
Major Duties / Responsibilities The selected candidate will work with the engineering manager and staff to create engineering procedures, standards, desktop instructions, fabrication specifications, design verification matrices, and other engineering documentation as required to support design deliverables. This position requires a consistent approach and clear writing style to develop a set of procedures/instructions which complements the project’s quality assurance requirements, while providing the end user flexibility in task execution. The candidate will help train staff members to perform work in accordance with developed work processes, monitor user performance, and then revise to make user-friendly based on feedback and observation. This position will also aid in the document review, approval, and change control of engineering documentation by routing documents for review/signature, tracking comments/resolutions, and functioning as a document records manager.

This positions responsibility will include:
- A strong problem/solving skill set to analyze existing workflow processes and recommend changes for optimization
- Origination of engineering procedures including change control, design review, design verification, drawing procedures, etc.
- Author fabrication specifications to aid in the consistent manufacture of components both internal to client and external procurement contracts
- Develop design requirements and verification processes to ensure critical attributes are inspected and documented through the design, manufacturing processes, and testing phase
- Work with Manufacturing and Testing departments before, during and after R&D testing to aid in the documentation of critical inspections and tests
- Aid in the development of engineering processes to manage the configuration of deployed systems
- Train staff members through a presentation series of developed processes/procedures for consistent group operation
- Organize design reviews, track reviewer comments and resolutions, and aid in the approval and filing of project design records
Required Qualifications:
- A minimum of 7 years’ experience in the creation of technical/procedural documents
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience working with an engineering organization
- Active DOE Q clearance
- Experience with Engineering change control processes
- Proven communication skills, both written and verbal
- This position requires an active Q clearance from the Department of Energy
- Driven mindset and assertive demeanor to improve workflow processes through documentation and training
- A Bachelor's of Science in any field of Engineering
- Experience related to programs or research involving isotope enrichment technologies
- Design requirements management/verification
- Working knowledge of 3D CAD and product data management systems
- An understanding of Six Sigma
- Experience in a Research & Development and/or testing environment
