We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Engineering Assistant/Drafter to join our dynamic team and contribute to the design and engineering of our modular homes.
Job Summary: The Engineering Assistant/Drafter will play a crucial role in supporting the engineering department by preparing and revising technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications for our modular homes. This position requires a strong understanding of drafting principles, construction methods, and building codes. The ideal candidate will be proficient in CAD software and possess excellent communication and organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities:

Prepare detailed architectural and structural drawings for modular homes using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit).

Revise existing drawings to reflect changes, modifications, and customer specifications.

Develop a comprehensive Bill of Materials (BOMs) from drawings and specifications.

Assist engineers in researching and selecting appropriate materials, components, and systems for modular home construction.

Collaborate with sales, production, and design teams to ensure accurate and constructible designs.

Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to company standards, building codes, and industry regulations.

Maintain organized digital and physical drawing archives.

Support the engineering team with various administrative tasks, documentation, and project coordination as needed.

Conduct basic calculations related to structural components, material quantities, and spatial requirements.

Participate in design reviews and provide constructive feedback.

Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and building code changes relevant to modular construction.
Qualifications:

Associate's degree in Drafting & Design, Architectural Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related field.

1-3 years of experience in a drafting or engineering support role, preferably within residential construction, modular construction, or manufacturing.

Proficiency in CAD software, particularly AutoCAD. Experience with Revit or other 3D modeling software is a plus.

Strong understanding of architectural and structural drafting conventions and symbols.

Knowledge of residential building codes (e.g., IRC) and construction practices.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documents.

Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Proficiency with Bluebeam or another PDF editing software (i.e. Adobe)
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with modular home construction processes and terminology.

Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles.

Ability to visualize and understand three-dimensional spatial relationships.
Physical Requirements:

Primarily sedentary work, but may involve occasional walking, standing, and lifting of light objects (up to 25 pounds).

Ability to work at a computer for extended periods.
