Community Hope is looking for full-time Employment Specialist for our Hope for Veterans Program. 


To ensure the safety of people we serve and our workforce, we require employee’s proof of COVID-19 vaccination.  Unvaccinated employees must participate in COVID-19 testing at minimum one to two times per week in accordance with State and Federal regulations.

This position directs and coordinates all Hope for Veterans employment opportunities. The Employment Specialist provides direct assistance and training to veterans to improve vocational skills; resume writing and interview skills.  Requires flexible hours, including afternoons or evenings, on-call coverage, and an ability to travel within the service delivery areas.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Support veterans in their recovery through psychoeducation groups, employment skill development, and linkage to community-based work opportunities as assigned by the Program Coordinator. 
  • Function as a team member including emergency shift coverage, communicating all relevant information to other team members, covering co-workers’ duties as needed.
  • Network and attend events with local and state agencies and local employers to further enhance their relationship with Community Hope Inc.
  • Develop employment opportunities through collaboration with community employers.
  • Links veterans to placement services and local and state agencies i.e. Division of Vocational Rehabilitation and Department of Labor.
  • Teaches and/or arranges volunteers to teach computer classes to the residents of the Hope for Veterans Program. 
  • Assists veterans in obtaining gainful employment after gaining marketable skills.
  • Collects, organizes, and analyzes information about individuals through records, tests, interviews, and professional sources, to appraise their interests, aptitudes, abilities, and personality characteristics, for vocational and educational planning.
  • Compiles and studies occupational, educational, and economic information to aid veterans in making and carrying out vocational objectives.
  • Schedules veterans for technical job-related skills training to improve individual work performance.
  • Provides veterans with on-the-job training and support as needed.
  • Collaborates with the VA on all VA employment initiatives.
  • Completes reports and meets requirements for funding sources as specified by the Director of Veteran Services.
  • Provides transportation to veterans for job interviews, job fairs, workshops and other training appointments as necessary.
  • Documents veteran progress in electronic health record in a timely manner.

 Qualifications:

  • BA in a related discipline; MA preferred.
  • Knowledge of veterans’ issues, homelessness, employment skills, and/or job coaching required.
  • Veterans preferred; and/or experience working with veterans preferred.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license, with a good driving record.
