Location: Nova Scotia Works (Halifax, Dartmouth, and Cole Harbour)
Position Status: Full-Time
Compensation: $52,000 per year

About the Role:
With funding from Employment Nova Scotia, the YMCA Nova Scotia Works Employment Services Centres deliver a comprehensive service to assist individuals with finding employment and assist employers with their human resource needs. We provide case management, employment assessments, needs determinations, job development and workshops, as well as linking clients to appropriate employment opportunities and community resources.
In this role, you will:
- Assist employers with their human resource needs, by completing assessments and co-developing a plan
- Support employers with resources and tools to help focus on creating safe and inclusive workspaces
- Help employers access government-funded programs and resources
- Organize and host job fairs and hiring events at NS Works and in community
- Work with service providers and industry sectors to develop working relationships to address underrepresentation in the workplace
- Develop and implement community engagement initiatives that promote employment opportunities
- Work collaboratively with NS Works team for case conferencing that leads to client’s successful attachment to the workplace
- Complete job-specific training within the required timeframes as per our funding agreement
- Work with employers to ensure they have appropriate candidates for their employment opportunities
- Other duties that support Nova Scotia Works outcomes as assigned by the Directors
Education and Skills Qualifications:
- Post secondary education in Human Service field or related field of study or a combination of education and work-related experience
- Demonstrated experience advocating for justice, equity, accessibility, diversity and inclusion
- Experienced with equitable human resource practices
- Demonstrated ability to support and advocate for unemployed persons who face barriers to finding and maintaining employment
- Experience in Micro Soft Word, Internet/ Email and use of database programs
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong interpersonal skills including tact, diplomacy, and ability to establish rapport
- Demonstrated ability to display sensitivity, managing expectations and diplomacy for internal and external contacts
- Excellent verbal, written communication skills, including presentation/ facilitation skills
- Valid Nova Scotia Driver’s License or access to reliable transportation
