Electronic Medical Records (EMR) Specialist
Large physician practice, with office locations in Baltimore, Maryland and surrounding counties, is seeking an EMR Specialist based at our Arbutus location.
Job Summary
Under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer, the EMR Specialist is responsible for facilitating the use and continuous improvement of the EMR and related software programs to maximize their effectiveness. This position is responsible for achieving in-depth knowledge of the Altera/Allscripts TouchWorks Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and associated interfaces.
Responsibilities include training all new employees and providers on system use including appropriate workflows within the EMR software application. Candidates must be able to communicate effectively with end users in both a group and individual setting. The EMR Specialist will be responsible for trouble-shooting ongoing issues with software systems and providing end user support. The EMR Specialist works collaboratively with providers, clinical staff, management, and software vendors to implement upgrades and develop training materials, policies, and procedures for EMR system users. This position also has primary responsibility for supporting patients utilizing the EMR patient portal.
In addition, the EMR Specialist will ensure the organization’s compliance with CMS Quality Payment Programs. This includes monitoring progress toward program goals and creating workflows to ease the burden of compliance.
Other duties include the production of monthly and quarterly management reports, processing legal/insurance medical records requests, and other EMR system related duties as assigned.
Travel to office sites and other locations is required as part of providing support and training for end users.
The salary range for this position is $65,000 - $85,000 commensurate with experience in addition to a robust benefit package comprised of Medical/Dental/Vision Insurance, Short Term Disability, Long Term Disability, Group Term Life, PTO, paid holidays, and 401(k) Plan with generous employer contribution.
