We are looking for a full time Electro-Mechanical Technician to join our newly acquired company Automatic Compactors, (Maple ON) in-shop production team.

What You’ll Do

We are looking for an Electro-Mechanical Technician who will work inside our production shop. The individual is responsible for the assembly and testing of new waste and recycling equipment (balers and compactors). Equipment is composed of electrical and hydraulic components. While working in the shop, the candidate will be reading electrical schematics to install, commission and wire panels with PLCs, relays, sensors, HMIs, Motors, electrical solenoids, Hydraulic cylinders, and other components while maintaining inventory stock.

Our ideal candidate has both electrical and mechanical aptitude and should have strong ability to read and understand electrical schematics. The opportunity is 60% electrical; 40% mechanical.

Hours:

7:00 am – 4:30 pm Monday to Thursday and 7:00 am to 11:00 am Fridays

Specific Duties

  • Wire and assemble control panels.
  • Run wire and install all aspects of the electrical system as per schematics
  • Installing, wiring, and testing of control panels
  • PLC upgrades, downloads, and basic modifications
  • Install hydraulic components - you will be trained in hydraulics
  •       Includes mounting hydraulic cylinders, making hydraulic hoses, installing hydraulic pumps and testing the system to ensure proper operation.
  • Analyzes work orders and wiring blueprints to determine need for supplies and sequence of operations required.
  •  Maintain tidy and safe work area
  •  Report any unsafe conditions or concerns to Supervisor

Our Ideal Candidate (Must Have):

1. 2+ years of experience hands-on experience with panels and sensor components

2. Electrical wiring, commissioning, and repair on panel

- Experience working with various components such as: Safety interlocks, Ultrasonic sensors, Photo-eyes, Pressure Transducers, Solenoids, Relays, limit switches and motor controls

3. Ability to read and understand electrical circuit drawings to properly install, diagnose, repair, and replace various parts and components.

4. Experience working with hand tools such as drills, screwdrivers, voltmeters, hammers, and wrenches

5. PLC commissioning (upgrades, downloads, and basic modifications)

- At Automatic Compactors we work with Allen Bradley & Schneider PLCs

An Asset if you have:

  • Previous working experience in hydraulic systems
  • Basic MIG welding
  • Ability to operate a forklift

Work Environment

  • Physical Demands: While performing duties of this job, the Electro-Mechanical Technician would be required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel.
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds
  • Must be able to have manual dexterity to operate equipment and tools required on the job.
